I don't think you need any gaskets really as its all in the cylinder heads. I would think you need to pull valve covers off and maybe the timing cover. I think there are tricks around that though.

Why are you putting those cams in? Do they have higher lift?

Timing isn't too bad.. but you need to take off timing cover, valve covers, which will be a pain with a 4v while the motor is in the car..

Also bleeding down the adjusters makes things a lot easier, need a vice for that, and either a spring compressor, or a large pry bar to pop on the followers.

well if i fuck it up it will give me a good reason to buy something i can put 100 spokes on lol

most people say you don't need to mess with the timing. and that the timing cover don't need to come off. i figured it would be as easy as pull and reinstall lol. on mach-1 registry they are acting like its easy. 3 or 4 hour job. or 6 hours with a case of beer.

Now I'm just replacing the intake cams not the exhaust. they are the same

Not something i would call easy, even removing the valve covers on those 4v cars is a pain in the ass..

They do make tools, that are meant to hole the gears and chains in place, so you dont have to remove the timing cover, or retime the motor, but i have never personally used them..

well i just ordered a book so I'm going to read up on it a little more before i take it part.

yeah i know its a lot work. a few said it would take about 4 to 6 hours.

on the mach-1 site they are getting 20 to 40 more hp and torque

and to get more out of them they do need to be degreed. they said if you don't you will gain about 10 hp but you will lose torque

anyway i just got a set for $100. so $100 and a few hours of work sounds like a good deal to me. plus whatever special tools i will need

150 shot would be easier and cheaper lol
