I will see if I can get over there today and take some. Heads may have already been sent out, but if not I will be sure to take pictures of everything. What a Face

Going to start looking at taller hoods also, incase of any clearance issues with the new intake Twisted Evil
Yes, you will need a taller hood. I would put a 1/2" spacer on whatever intake you go with and throw on some tall valve covers while your at it!

I'm with Jay... I definitely like those RPMII's. Without a spacer, you shouldn't really have any severe clearance issues. I know we had to "smooth out" the inner frame thing on a stock hood maybe less than a half inch to work fine. Can't go wrong with an intake that starts to make power at 1500, and with the help of some laughing gas can go up to 6500. That's a great powerband for any type of usage imo.

I don't even know if my motor is properly balanced..... ouch.
It was rebuilt back to stock specs, but I bought a new Ford flywheel & Professional Products 50 oz dampner (they suck ass). Well, the new flywheel wouldn't bolt on so I got my old one resurfaced. They only had 28 oz balance prior to '79 if I recall correctly though. Who knows... If it blows, it blows & it'll be an excuse to build something bigger and better lol.

yeah most the HO motors were 50oz. Most strokers are 28oz or like mine 0 balance.

That sure looks like a stock 302 shortblock. See if you can find any part numbers or markings on the crank, rods, and pistons. If not, you can use a ruler and a caliper to measure how deep in the bore the piston goes when its at bottom dead center.

Rotate the motor over by hand to get one piston all the way to the bottom. Use a ruler to measure how deep it goes into the cylinder (make a good mark on the ruler that you can measure with a caliper to get an exact measurement). Rotate the motor over again to get that piston back at top dead center and make sure its even with the deck. A 347 ci setup will have a 3.40" stroke, meaning the piston should go down 3.4" from the deck to bottom dead center, a 331 I believe is a 3.25 stroke or something (don't quote me on that, never had a 331). Stock obviously is only a 3" stroke.

Even if you only got a stock shortblock as the others mentioned, the heads/rockers/pushrods were worth what you paid. I'm assuming the 7.20" pushrod is because its a flat tappet motor as trick flow heads with a hydraulic roller normally use 6.70" pushrods. Difference in lifter height I guess.

As mentioned the RPM II, or the Holley Systemax will work best with the twisted wedge heads. My old 347 setup with ported twisted wedges, systemax, and lunati 544/560 cam went 11.15@119 on motor at 3000-3100 lbs.
