For sale is 2004 Toyota Corolla LE w/ power package. Car is white with tan interior and
wood trim. The vehicle has power-windows, door-locks, mirrors, cruise control, tilt steering wheel, AM/FM/CD/Cassette and remote keyless access. Car has also has the alloy wheels (not steelies). It is currently at 95,900 miles.
This is probably the cleanest ’04 corolla you will find for sale in the city—I know, because I have looked at all the ads. This is a ONE owner vehicle that has NEVER been in an accident, and was purchased brand new from Fred Haas Toyota-world in 2004. It has been meticulously maintained and runs and drives the same today as it did the day we rolled it off the show room floor.
Overall the car needs nothing but someone to sit in the driver’s seat and operate the pedals/wheel. We have just finished spending $1500 in the past 2-3 months doing all of the required maintenance—the other half didn’t decide she wanted a convertible till recently and was perfectly content driving this for another 100k miles.
The car recently has had the following performed, either by me, or when I didn’t have sufficient tools to complete the task—ie. Alignments—the Mike Calvert Toyota dealer down the street.
• Fresh oil change (5W30, it has always received changes religiously at 3-5k mile intervals)
• New brakes ( Front discs & pads, Rear shoes & drums)
• New plugs (OEM Bosch Iridiums gapped @ .044”)
• New air filter
• New BFGoodrich tires all around (195/65R/15s)
• New windshield (Old one had a crack from a rock that I found unsightly)
• Fuel injector cleaning
• Coil packs inspected
• Alignment @ Mike Calvert (we also had them inspect the vehicle on a lift, I wanted to know the condition of the motor mounts, transmission mounts, tie rods, endlinks, ball joints, etc.) They told me everything was ship shape and the bushings and mounts were fine. The only thing that didn’t pass their inspection was the original gas cap—they said the seal didn’t pass their test. This brings me to my next item)
• New OEM gas cap
• Fresh inspection (Good for another year till 5/2013)
• Windows tinted w/ lifetime warranty
The car needs nothing, there is no guess work, no surprises, nothing overlooked. Car tracks straight, brakes with authority, shifts smoothly, and doesn’t make any errant noises, squeaks, or rattles. A/C blows ICE cold, heater is like Egypt. It was a highway driven car between Houston and Huntsville for the majority of its life, and it shows. The vehicle is still
tight. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive this thing across the country tomorrow morning. I am an engineer by trade and an
auto mechanic by hobby, I take religious care of all of our vehicles whether they be fords, bmw’s, audi’s, or in my gf’s case, her corolla. The only issues I could even point out would be cosmetic, the front and rear bumpers have some scrapes and bumps from years of careless people in parking lots, hood has some rock chips, and the there are 3 small dents on the right side of the vehicle. Other than that, the car is mint--take a look at the door jambs in the pics, you can serve dinner off of them.
Why am I posting a corolla for sale in an enthusiast forum? Well, as certainly seems to be the case with my family and friends, not everyone is a car
enthusiast per se. Most of my friends and family seem to be completely content with rolling from A to B without a second thought as to what type of vehicle they are riding in. For them, it comes down to a consideration of price, safety, reliability, operating costs, & mpg. This car checks all of those boxes and then some. So if you know someone that is in the market for a reliable, no frills mode of transportation, that gets 36mpg, and that will keep running like clockwork for another 100k miles with just fluid changes, send them my way. For your efforts, I will gladly line your pocket with a referral fee of $50—contingent on the buyer confirming said referral.
We are asking
$8500 for the vehicle. Title is in hand.
I have done my research and looked at all the corollas this model year and mileage for sale in Houston, and in all honesty haven’t found a cleaner, one owner, no accident, fully serviced example for anything close to the kind of money we are asking. The sad truth is that these are high volume commuter cars that are usually rode hard and put away wet. Ours is an outstanding outlier in that respect. If you would like to show me one in this condition, for less money, I’ll be glad to negotiate.
I have a carfax report for this vehicle, and will gladly send it to any interested parties.
